Treat Others with Respect

Our community is built on mutual respect, openness, and consideration. Everyone should feel welcome and comfortable.

Our Guidelines

  • Gender does not determine dance roles.
  • Respect other people’s wishes and boundaries.
  • Unwanted attention or harassment is not acceptable.
  • Avoid giving unsolicited dance advice.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and dance with consideration for everyone around you.

Examples

  • Dance with awareness.

Not every dance floor offers plenty of space. Use the techniques you’ve learned in class to dance safely and comfortably, even in smaller spaces. The dance floor belongs to everyone.

  • Welcome new people.

If you notice someone who is new to the community or seems to be on their own, take the opportunity to say hello or introduce them to others.

  • Respect different experiences.

People come from different dance communities, cultures, and backgrounds. Be open, respectful, and appreciate these differences.
